Provisio: Equipping Doctors to Achieve Better Outcomes

Earlier this year, Provisio Medical, a PBO Advisory client since 2021, reached the significant milestone of having its first medical device cleared by the FDA. We congratulate the Provisio team and are pleased to share their story with you.

Provisio is a medical device company dedicated to revolutionizing endovascular procedures for treating conditions affecting the vascular system (blood vessels). The company is establishing a new standard in vessel sizing, a critical step in endovascular procedures.

In April, the FDA granted clearance of the Provisio SLT IVUS™ System. The device is designed to revolutionize interventional therapies by giving physicians the exact information they need, when they need it, while enhancing procedural workflow.

Before Provisio received clearance, the standard-of-care was insufficient to accurately assess vessel size in the approximately 20 million people in the USA with peripheral vascular disease. By using the SLT IVUS technology, accuracy of vessel sizing is improved, which in turn, improves clinical outcomes.

The PBO Advisory team works with John Blake, Provisio’s CFO. John turned to PBO Advisory three years ago when he was the “OFO” (only financial officer) of Provisio. With John focusing on fundraising, operations, and other high-value activities, he needed part-time support with finance and accounting functions. Because PBO Advisory provides fractional services, John was able to gain a team with an accounting skills stack to run general accounting functions, enabling the building of a foundation that could rapidly scale once the company was ready for commercialization. The PBO Advisory team operates with little oversight from John, something he very much appreciates.

With PBO Advisory Group, I have developed good working relationships with quality people at reasonable fees. For three years, their team has handled a range of finance and accounting projects, and has been instrumental in setting up many of our foundational processes. PBO’s flexible approach allows our arrangement to evolve as our needs change and Provisio grows. Utilizing their services allows me to focus on higher-level activities that fuel our company’s short- and long-term growth.

CFO, Provisio Medical

Based in San Diego, the company currently has 41 employees. The FDA clearance has led Provisio to also open a manufacturing facility in the northern San Diego County city of Carlsbad.

We congratulate Provisio on discovering a better way to equip doctors and help the millions of people suffering from vascular disease. We are honored to work with an organization that is making significant strides in healthcare and the medical device industries.
