Philanthropic Spotlight: San Diego Model Railroad Museum
Whether you enjoy watching the Polar Express movie during the holidays or are a train enthusiast all year long, the San Diego Model Railroad Museum is the place for you!
Located in the heart of Balboa Park, SDMRM spans 27,000 square feet of model trains, trestles and tracks. With both indoor and outdoor exhibits and programming for all ages, the museum’s mission is to research, collect, preserve, and present the heritage of American railroading with scale models of California railroads.
During this holiday season, the museum is featuring “Delivering Joy: Holiday Trains, Travel & Toys,” now through January 2nd. Through the exhibit you will learn how trains became associated with the holiday season and the various ways they offer joy during this time of year. On December 21st, SDMRM is holding a “Polar Express Family Day” which will include multiple showings of the movie Polar Express and a special appearance by Santa!
The museum also features several permanent exhibits featuring southwest landmarks and train lines.
PBO Advisory recently participated in “Ales N’ Rails,” a fundraising event for the museum. We donned our ugly holiday sweaters and enjoyed beer from local breweries while taking in the model railroad exhibits. We are proud of our association with SDMRM and have provided accounting, audit and human resources services to the museum for many years.
